Breakaway Seminars

In this podcast episode, Scott Leune CEO of Breakaway Practice is answering questions about delegation in a dental practice. He says that when delegation isn't working and people aren't doing their assigned tasks, it's the leader's or owner's fault. To improve delegation, the leader should create an environment where the team knows what needs to be done, and how to do it, and is held accountable. For tasks that are done all the time, they should become part of the job duties for that position, and the team member should have a checklist of their daily, weekly, and monthly tasks. This will help the team member remember what they need to do, free up their emotional space, as well as make them feel productive and organized.

Scott states that writing things down and following up is crucial for delegation and accountability. The leader must audit daily, weekly, and monthly tasks to ensure they are completed. Scott notes that the success of the team and practice ultimately rests on the leader and suggests that the leader should look at this as an opportunity to become successful.

To achieve success, the leader should focus on learning the right information, implementing what they have learned, and being accountable through education, coaching, and personal trainers. Scott offers various examples of how this can be applied to the dental practice, such as increasing new patients, improving case acceptance percentages, and managing the scheduled capacity effectively.
